The reporter learned from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) that the university, in conjunction with the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Geological Survey Research Institute, discovered the new rare earth mineral "Neodymium Yellow River Ore" in the middle of the ore body of the main ore section of the Baiyunebo deposit in Inner Mongolia. The nomenclature has been approved unanimously by the Committee on the Nomenclature and Classification of New Minerals of the International Mineralogical Association.

Baiyun Obo deposit is the largest rare earth deposit in the world. More than 210 kinds of minerals have been discovered before, and the proportion of new minerals is increasing year by year. The approval of the Yellow River Neodymium Mine further highlights the complexity of the deposit and the diversity of its resource potential.

Zhao Laishi, a researcher at the National Key Laboratory of Geological Processes and Metallogenic Prediction of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), introduced that the neodymium-rich Huanghe deposit is a neodymium-rich end-member mineral of the Huanghe deposit, which belongs to the family of rare earth carbonate minerals and has unique neodymium-enrichment characteristics.

Neodymium, as the core component of high-performance permanent magnet materials, is in great demand in new energy vehicles, wind power generation, electronic information and other fields. The research results not only enrich the theoretical system of rare earth mineralogy, but also provide a new way for the independent development and utilization of neodymium resources.
